About Us.
Chartered on March 17, 1949, the Ticonderoga Emergency Squad was founded by a dedicated group of community members committed to improving access to emergency medical care. Our original charter members — D. Carter, G. Wendell, C. Mattison, J. Goodrow, C. Curtis, A. McCaughin, J. Crammond, K. Brannock, J. DeLorm, J. Coley, D. Coley, and G. Fuller—laid the foundation for a service that has grown significantly over the decades.
In our earliest days, emergency calls were answered using hearses as ambulances, with volunteers delivering basic first aid and CPR. For many years, the squad operated entirely on volunteer efforts, reflecting the deep-rooted spirit of service in our community.
Today, Ticonderoga Emergency Squad is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization delivering cutting-edge Advanced Life Support (ALS) services to the Towns of Ticonderoga, Putnam, and Crown Point. We also provide mutual aid to neighboring communities. Our team consists of both volunteer and paid professionals, working together to ensure 24/7 emergency medical coverage for the region. While our capabilities and technology have evolved, our commitment to community care and service remains as strong as ever.
